Did you know?

Parkinson’s Disease can affect mood, sleep, and energy in addition to movement.

Understanding Parkinson's Disease

Parkinson’s Disease is a progressive neurological disorder that primarily affects the brain’s ability to control movement. It is caused by the gradual loss of dopamine-producing neurons, which are essential for smooth muscle activity and coordination. As dopamine levels decrease, symptoms such as tremors, muscle stiffness, and slowed movement become more noticeable. Over time, non-motor symptoms like fatigue, mood changes, and cognitive difficulties may also develop.

While the exact cause is not fully known, genetics, environmental factors, and oxidative stress are believed to contribute. Managing Parkinson’s Disease often involves a combination of medication, physical therapy, and lifestyle adjustments. Early intervention and consistent support can help maintain independence and improve quality of life. Integrative wellness therapies are sometimes used alongside standard treatments to address fatigue and promote well-being.

Symptoms of Parkinson's Disease

Early symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease may include subtle tremors, muscle stiffness, and slower movements. These changes often develop gradually and can be mistaken for normal aging. Over time, balance issues and difficulty with fine motor tasks may become more apparent. Fatigue and reduced facial expression are also common early signs.

As the condition advances, muscle rigidity and challenges with walking or posture may increase. Non-motor symptoms such as depression, anxiety, and sleep disturbances can also arise. Cognitive changes, including mild memory loss or trouble concentrating, may develop in some individuals. These symptoms can vary widely in severity and progression.

Other common symptoms include constipation, changes in handwriting, and a softer speaking voice. Some people notice a diminished sense of smell or increased difficulty with daily activities. The combination of motor and non-motor symptoms can impact independence and quality of life. Ongoing support and symptom management are important for maintaining daily function.

Traditional Treatments

Standard treatment for Parkinson's Disease usually begins with medications that help replace or mimic dopamine, such as levodopa and dopamine agonists. These drugs can improve movement and reduce symptoms like tremors and rigidity. Over time, adjustments may be needed to maintain effectiveness and manage side effects. Physical therapy and regular exercise are also recommended to support strength, balance, and mobility.

Non-motor symptoms, such as depression or sleep issues, may be managed with additional medications or behavioral therapies. Occupational and speech therapy can help with daily activities and communication. Some people explore integrative approaches, including nutritional support and stress management, as part of a broader care plan. Regular follow-up with healthcare providers ensures that treatment remains tailored to changing needs.

How IV Therapy May Help

IV therapy at The DRIPBaR is designed to deliver targeted nutrients that may help support neurological function, energy metabolism, and antioxidant defenses. By providing vitamins, minerals, and other compounds directly into the bloodstream, these therapies can offer consistent dosing and rapid absorption. Sessions are administered by licensed nurses, ensuring a safe and comfortable experience. Many clients value the convenience and individualized approach to wellness.

Our services are intended to complement, not replace, traditional medical treatments for Parkinson's Disease. We work with each client to understand their goals and adapt therapy plans as needed. While IV therapy may help address fatigue, oxidative stress, and cognitive clarity, results vary and should be considered as part of a comprehensive care strategy. Ongoing support and education are provided to help clients make informed decisions about their wellness journey.

I came into The Drip Bar in Midland feeling absolutely wiped out after a flu, and I can’t say enough good things about my visit. Alexis at the front desk was super helpful and friendly from the moment I walked in, making the whole check-in process easy. Ariel, my nurse, was fantastic. The IV was completely painless and she was so warm and personable throughout. The post-flu IV worked wonders, and my energy levels bounced back faster than I expected. Highly recommend this place if you’re feeling run down. Five stars!
